FAQs

What is the difference between Local Lingo and Phrasebook Plus?

Local Lingo focuses more on cultural phrases and impressing the locals, while Phrasebook Plus is designed to cover essential survival Turkish words and phrases, perfect for your first few months in Turkey.

Lifetime access to Phrasebook Plus is priced at $29.

After purchase, you can immediately access Phasebook Plus either through the home page or the main menu under the category ‘Turkish’.

Yes, we regularly update Phrasebook+ to add new words and modify existing ones to keep up with the evolving language, and we’re always listening to feedback.

Not yet – but it’s pretty straightforward, with the essentials and more.

In our phrasebooks, the pronunciations are written with English speakers in mind. They’re more of a practical guide than a technical one. Our approach may not nail every unique Turkish sound, especially since English doesn’t cover the full range of Turkish phonetics. But, considering that hardly anyone dives deep into the technicalities of the International Phonetic Alphabet, we kept it straightforward. The best way to get the hang of Turkish pronunciation? Listen to the locals. Tune in to the local buzz; it’s your most reliable Turkish tutor. We also have a guide on Turkish pronunciation and some useful notes as well.

We do not offer refunds, but if you’re dissatisfied with the product, please let us know your concerns and we’ll try to figure something out.

An optional add-on to the Phrasebook Plus. It includes around 100 words and phrases to use with caution – they’re perfect for a laugh with friends, but probably not what you want to drop in front of a stranger, your boss or a sweet old lady.

Bad enough to make you grin, not grimace. We’re all about pushing boundaries, not buttons. It’s edgy, sure, but we steered clear of anything that punches down at any specific race, gender, or sexual orientation. Crafted by a trio of badass women, it includes a mix of light-hearted and more daring phrases. Each word is rated on a scale of 1 to 3, so you know if you’re dealing with an “oh crap” (1) or an “oh fuck” (3).

Currently, it’s available only as an add-on to the Phrasebook Plus, but we might consider offering it separately in the future based on demand.

Turkish can give English a run for its money in the swearing department- we actually tried as hard as we could to narrow it down. We’ve picked a collection that ranges from the hilarious to the brilliantly audacious.
