Tourist Visas

Turkey has a simple e-Visa system that allows visitors from approximately 60 countries to apply online for a visa before traveling.

The process is pretty straightforward – you’ll need your passport, travel info, a credit card, and a printer. You may download the document and print it later. The Turkish government strongly recommends that travelers obtain their e-Visa before departure.*

In the past, Turkey did offer a “sticker visa” on arrival for some nationalities, but they were phasing it out in favor of the e-Visa system. As a rule, it’s always best to obtain the required travel documents before you travel to avoid any issues or disruptions.

In cases where you forget to obtain an e-Visa, the options available to you may depend on your nationality and the specific policies in place at the time of your travel. Always verify the current requirements with the nearest Turkish consulate or embassy before your trip. If you find that you’ve forgotten to apply for an e-Visa, contact the Turkish authorities as soon as possible for guidance. Our data is updated monthly, but Turkish bureaucracy is far from stable so please double check before you leave.
